BREEDING HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION

Lima Lee Beans  Phaseolus Lunatus  Commonly known as the lima bean or butter bean, sieve bean or Madagascar Bean. This is a legume grown  for its edible seeds or beans. General time frame for germination of a lima bean is between 6 and 18 days . 

Lee is a single plant selection from a biparental bulk population of I453 x I435 in F10. Both parents are experimental lines. I453 is a single plant from a bulk population of “Ventura” x “Mackie”.  I435 is a sister selection of Mackie.  The bulk population was synthesized from about 2000 F2 plants.

Lee is a large white seed coated indeterminant plant-type and matures in about 120 days.
