Hy Mark Forage Type Tall Fescue is a special crossing of "European-type" and "Mediterranean-type" fescues extending its range of adaptation and providing a wider range of ability to tolerate both hot, humid climates, as well as colder climate zones. Data from the Northeast and Southeast shows that Hy Mark has a wide range of adaptation. It performs well in wet summers.  Yet it has good drought tolerance in case the summer goes dry or you have limited irrigatio. This was developed primarily out of selections of the well-known varieties Cajun, Martin, Mozark and KY-31. Hy Mark has been bred for high yields. This is particularly noticeable with earlier spring growth, high first cutting yields and extended production in the fall. For optimal forage quality, match grazing/cutting dates to this early maturity characteristic. Fall growth is excellent for stockpiling and fall grazing.

Endophyte-Free

Hy Mark is endophyte-free, meaning it is safe for all livestock including horses.  Endophyte-free also means grazing animals will spend more time grazing and less time in the shade. New evidence also suggests significant improvements in cattle reproductively can be achieved with endophyte-free grazing.
