Festlolium is a cross between perennial Italian Crusader ryegrass which is a highly productive, rapid establishing and late flowering diploid Italian crusader ryegrass and a fescue grass. You can almost think of it as a meadow grass or the somewhat familiar atom prairie grass. It can be used for grazing m silage or hay production. This produces more dry matter than most short term ryegrass or at least as close to most ryegrass varieties from a combination of its early growth from establishment to excellent winter production in the west or spring to early summer in the north or Midwest. This is classified as a cool season crop as far as when you grow it. So excellent winter growth in the west to strong persistence into the summer in your more mild climates. THIS IS PERENNIAL and Festulolium is one of the latest flowering ryegrass / meadow grass/ fescue grasses since it’s a cross between ryegrass and fescue grass This will maximize in its vegetative growth period. It will also have a extended period of leafiness which will extend life to your pastures in the late spring and early summer in the west and into the summer in the cooler parts of our country. Keep in mind this is a cool season crop. Which means plant in the late summer or fall in the west and south west and spring in the Midwest and northern parts of our country.
