Root Knot Nematodes enhance diseases such as bacterial wilt, Phytophthora Root Rot, and Fusarium wilt. Signs of infection are small distinct galls on roots.

Stem Nematodes are the most serious nematode for alfalfa, they destroy chloroplasts causing pale leaf tissue. Once established, Stem Nematodes can severely limit productivity for two to three years.
